The Antica
Trattoria da Bepi in Marano,
in the heart of the Valpolicella region, is run with great
devotion and courtesy by Vittorio
in the kitchen and Camilla
in the dining room.
The kitchen manages, despite the passage of time, to preserve
the old flavours of the countryside. It keeps alive the traditional
art of cooking polenta over an
open hearth, after which it is toasted and then served
with a huge selection of home-made
cold meats and salami.
There is also the renowned risotto
all'amarone, the classic
handmade lasagnette with black
truffles from Lessinia, not
to mention “pappardelle in meat
broth with chicken livers”. A large selection of main courses is available.
There are various kinds of barbecued
meats including the
superb bistecca alla fiorentina, filet steak, beef rib
steak and lamb chops with their unique flavour.
Our favourite dish, however, is still lamb
stewed in Amarone with grilled polenta.
Cheeses are especially selected.
Sweets and cakes are exclusively homemade. |
